As we know parental controls have been available on smartphones, computers, and other social media sources. The objective is to block inappropriate content for your children and find only educational programming. DIRECTV is not the exception, you can easily block certain channels that might contain sexual, violent or obscene content.
All DIRECTV shows have a parental guide tab that provides overall information and rating about the content of the show. You can tell your Genie HD DVR what to show based on ratings, and viewing hours.
How to block a channel?
- Choose the show or movie
- Press the Info button on your remote
- Choose Parental and then Parental Controls
- If it is your first time, you need to enter a 4-digit code that will block and unblock the content. (Make sure to use a meaningful combination of numbers)
If you are using a DIRECTV to watch shows on your mobile devices, you need to launch the app and set Parental Controls there too.
You can also block entire channels based on categories by shows or movies that you don’t want your kids to watch.
