How to Program a DISH Network Remote

Want to learn how to Program a DISH Network Remote? Brad’s Electronics, your local DISH Network experts, have put together a quick tutorial for programming a DISH Network remote to:

  • whole home Hopper system
  • other DISH Network receivers
  • television, DVD or BluRay player, or other auxiliary device via code
  • television, DVD or BluRay player, or other auxiliary device via scan

We want you to be as efficient as possible so scan through until you get to the appropriate section.

How to Program a DISH Network Remote to a Hopper or Joey System

  • Select the System Info button on your receiver, your television should display a System Info screen.
  • Select the SAT button on your DISH Network Remote. It should light up and beep
  • Hit the Cancel button on your remote; the System Info screen will close
  • Push the Guide button on your remote; the programming guide should appear.
  • Repeat if necessary.

How to Program a DISH Network Remote to a Non-Hopper Receiver

  • Push either the Power button or down arrow on the front of your receiver; your television should display a System Info screen.
  • Select the SAT button on your DISH Network Remote. It should light up.
  • Push the Record button, the SAT button should light up again.
  • Scroll using the remote and select the Done option at the bottom of the System Info screen; the System Info screen will close.
  • Push the Guide button on your remote; the programming guide should appear.
  • Repeat if necessary.

How to Program a DISH Network Remote to a Television, DVD/BluRay Player, or Aux Device Using a Code

  • Point your remote at selected device while simultaneously pressing and holding the corresponding device button on your DISH Network Remote.
  • All four buttons along the top should light up.
  • Enter the three-digit remote control code that corresponds to the device you are trying to program using the keypad.
  • The corresponding device button along the top of the remote should light up.
  • Press the pound key(#) on the bottom right of the keypad.
  • The corresponding device button along the top of the remote should light up three times.
  • Select the Power button to turn off the device, if device shuts down, programming is successful, if not repeat steps.

How to Program a DISH Network Remote to a Television, DVD/BluRay Player, or Aux Device by Scan

  • Point your remote at selected device while simultaneously pressing and holding the corresponding device button on your DISH Network Remote.
  • All four buttons along the top should light up.
  • Press the Power button on your DISH Network remote. The corresponding device button along the top of the remote should light up.
  • Press the Up or Down arrow on the remote to start the scan.
  • The Mode button will light up and remain lit during the scan and the device will power off.
  • Press the pound key(#) on the bottom right of the keypad.
  • The corresponding device button along the top of the remote should light up three times.
  • Select the Power button to turn off the device; if device turns on, programming is successful, if not repeat steps.
